Child Focus, Inc. (CFI) offers a wide range of mental health services including individual/family counseling, group counseling, therapeutic support, diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention, pharmacotherapy and partial hospitalization.
At CFI, we recognize the importance of identifying and treating mental health issues as early as possible. Mental disorders affect not only the children who have them, but also individuals around them. Most notably, because one of the primary tasks of childhood is school, children who are mentally ill can affect the education of those around them due to their disruptive behaviors. Children with mental health diagnoses can also have a dramatic effect on their caregivers (both parents and teachers), as well as on siblings and other family members.
It is imperative that children’s mental health issues are addressed in the context of a family partnership and all of CFI’s behavioral health services require involvement of the primary caregiver. There are several reasons for this. First, typically the environment must also change in order for the child to get mentally healthy. Similarly, sometimes the way a parent/guardian, sibling, or other person in the home interacts with a child must change in order for the child to get healthy. Finally, the family’s involvement is important in order to educate the family about the mental health needs of the affected child.
