Get Your Taxes Done Free at Child Focus

If you and your family earned less than $62,000 in 2015 you may be eligible for free tax preparation assistance to help you save your money. Families earning less than $53,000 are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC, which provides refundable cash to hard working adults and families.  This credit can be up to $6,242 to buy the things you need, to pay off debt, buy a home, or save for the future.  Child Focus is working with United Way of Greater Cincinnati to inform eligible people of this free federal and state tax preparation program.  We want to help you keep more of your money!

FREE tax filing services available to eligible people:

On-line Filing: MyFreeTaxes is a free online tax preparation program sponsored by the United Way that helps you file your own taxes from home using your computer.  It is fast, confidential, easy and safe.  Specially trained 211 operators are on hand to answer your questions by phone or chat. Free federal and state returns for families earning less than $62,000, processing in about a week.

One-on-One Filing: Families earning less than $53,000 are eligible to have your returnpreparedand e-filed for free at one of the local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax sites supported by the United Way of Greater Cincinnati. IRS certified volunteers help prepare basic tax returns at sites throughout our region.All locations file electronically to ensure quick filing and rapid refunds within 7 to 10 days. If your tax return contains items that are out of scope for the program, VITA will notify you that the volunteers cannot prepare the return.  Dates and times at the Child Focus Training Center (551-B Cincinnati-Batavia Pike Cincinnati OH  45244) will be Thursdays, February 4,11, 18, 25, March 31, and April 7, 2016 from 4-8pm.  Space is limited, to get there early to reserve a place.
