Child Focus Partners with Grant Career Center

Calendar-IconFebruary 28, 2019

Child Focus People Exploring Education/Employment Pathways, or PEEP, is a work readiness program funded through United Way aimed to help the families we serve in our community to advance their careers and/or education. Whether a parent’s goal is to gain employment, continue their education, or improve their work situation, PEEP teams up with parents to chart a course for their own hopes and dreams. PEEP’s team of Job Navigators partner with parents to set goals for their own employment or education pathway, and guiding them to resources in the community that would help them on their journey.

Child Focus PEEP and Grant Career Center have partnered to bring an STNA Course to the families of Child Focus. Eleven parents are working toward their STNA certification during the day while their children are at school or enrolled in a Child Focus Head Start classroom.

This class is the same as STNA courses currently being offered by Grant, but allows parents to attend class during the daytime. The course will be a total of 6 weeks, providing both classroom and clinical experience SEM Haven in Milford.

All participants who complete the course do so at no cost with the help of funding from the Adult Diploma Program and OhioMeansJobs.

The PEEP program frequently collaborates with the Family Advocates and Home Visitors to provide services to parents seeking employment or advanced education, and PEEP staff are looking forward to providing similar opportunities to Child Focus families in the future!
