It is with both sadness and gratitude that after nineteen years of service, Berta Velilla has accepted a position with Miami Valley Child Development Centers located in Dayton, Ohio to serve as the CEO.

During her time with the agency, Berta oversaw great changes.  Under her leadership, Child Focus early learning programs grew and diversified, outcomes improved due to quality staffing and research-based program implementation and services became more accessible in the community, moving from churches and community centers to schools.

“This is a great opportunity for me professionally and a good next step in my career.  I am excited, nervous and sad to leave so many wonderful people who are part of the CFI family.  I know I am leaving Early Learning programs in great hands and in a very good place.  We have a strong team, good systems and people who know what they are doing,” says Berta Velilla, Director of Early Learning.

“We at Child Focus are incredibly grateful to Berta for the energy, vision, and heart that she dedicated to our agency and the children and families we serve. We wish her the absolute best in all her future plans and endeavors,” says Jim Carter, CEO of Child Focus.

An event was held at Mt. Carmel Brewery on Thursday, April 25 to wish Berta well in her new endeavors.
