Mental Health Month & State Advocacy
Child Focus has provided House and Senate testimony and met with local representatives and public officials to discuss our life-saving efforts during COVID and listen to our thoughts on what else we can do to support children, adults and families through COVID recovery by offering more parent education and support, workforce development services and more child care slots. Rep. Jean Schmidt, State Representative for District 65, met with our board of directors, took a tour and read a book in one of our preschool classrooms. Rep. Schmidt has been an amazing advocate for local children and families and we thank her for her support! One of our youth, Donovan, provided testimony during May is Mental Health Month at the Mental Health & Addiction Advocacy Coalition (MHAC) Public Officials Breakfast about his story of mental health recovery. He did an amazing job and we are so proud of the amazing advocate leader he has become!
