Program Helps Stabilize Families
Child Focus Intensive Home Based Treatment seeks to strengthen youth and families and helps to facilitate stability, promote healthier relationships and resilience through strength-based and need-focused treatment. Counseling, Case Management and Psychiatric services are supportive and respectful. Comprehensive services are matched to each families presenting needs, strengths and circumstances addressing mental health, substance abuse, school, family, peer, and community issues.
OVERVIEW
Individuals who are severely emotionally disturbed (SED) are welcomed in an integrated treatment approach with a focus that provides the necessary services and supports that enable the client to live and function successfully in the least restrictive most normative environment. The service is time limited with intensive delivery at a minimum of 3 hours per week. Crisis response is provided 24/7.
THE NEED
The Intensive Home Based Therapy program (IHBT) works with youth ages 7-17, who have been diagnosed with severe emotional problems and are not functioning well in many areas of their lives. These can include:
· Disruption in family and interpersonal relationships due to youth’s emotional state
· Truancy/frequent suspensions/expulsion risk at school
· Severe depression and anxiety or psychosis
· History of suicide gestures, hospitalizations, outpatient therapy or other intensive services
· Juvenile Court involvement
· Substance abuse problems
· Risk for out of home placement
Utilizing a risk and protective factor framework, treatment includes active safety planning and monitoring to reduce risk:
Resilience Focus: Connections, competencies, contributions, high expectations, standards and monitoring, positive of self and future, hope and optimism.
Family Partnership: Family is regarded as equal partner in all aspects of service planning and delivery.
Treatment Persistence: Commitment to a mutual process of extreme persistence in the delivery of services and supports. The service is flexible and individually tailored to meet unique needs of the family and youth.
Culturally Responsive: Services are culturally competent and responsive to the unique cultural, racial, spiritual and ethnic differences of the families served.
Empowerment and Self Sufficiency: Services build upon the youth’s and families strengths, resources, and informal supports.
Cross System collaboration: Occurs with other child serving agencies such as school, court developmental disabilities, job and family services and other health care providers.
Flexible Scheduling: Meets youth and family at home, school, court, or other agreed upon locations. Works around the families schedule.
